Main Street and the Third Street Promenade put beach-town bars and real nightlife in the same few blocks. The Santa Monica bar crawl runs both, with drink specials reserved for crawlers at every stop and no cover charges for anyone wearing the wristband. Start near the pier, end somewhere louder, and never argue with a door about pricing.
